The Warriors have broken a seven-match losing streak with a comprehensive 44-12 thrashing of North Queensland in their NRL clash at Ericsson Stadium.
After holding a 16-12 halftime lead, Auckland ran amok in the second spell, finally outscoring North Queensland eight-tries-to-one to all but guarantee the Cowboys the 2000 wooden spoon.
In the other match, halfback Brett Kimmorley starred as Melbourne downed the Northern Eagles 38-26.
Even the sending off of Storm prop Rodney Howe for a late hit failed to overshadow a brilliant performance from Kimmorley, who initiated all seven of Melbourne's tries.
