Red noses will be on display tomorrow as more than 50 Bay schools and businesses raise awareness and funds for child health research.
Friday is Cure Kids' annual appeal, Red Nose Day. In addition to the business and school-based fundraisers, there will be street collectors outside Pak'nSave in Tauranga all day.
Money raised would be used to fund child health research that could improve, extend and save the lives of many children living with illnesses.
Four-year-old Red Nose Day ambassador Chloe Crump lives with a life-limiting chronic respiratory condition called bronchiectasis.
The Tauranga pre-schooler will join others at Ark Childcare on Third Ave to dress up in red for Red Nose Day.
Chloe was diagnosed with bronchiectasis in 2016 which means she finds it hard to clear mucus from her lungs.
She had to spend her fourth birthday in hospital to receive IV antibiotic treatment. But it is not uncommon for Chloe to be in hospital.
Her mother Rachel Crump said Chloe had to have daily chest physiotherapy and nebulisers to help clear her lungs and airways of mucus and secretions.
"Despite everything, Chloe is such a happy and fun loving girl, she gets tired quickly and sometimes struggles with prolonged exercise and full on days at preschool.
"She naps every day but loves to get out and about. Chloe is an awesome swimmer and has completed two terms of swimming lessons this year, which she has done so well."
