Athletics MMC school athletics were held on Monday at the Tauranga Domain where seven school records were broken.
These include the junior girls' 100m, 200m, 300m, long jump and javelin and the senior girls' javelin and the senior boys' shot put records.
This is an outstanding performance that shows the abundance of talented athletes we have within our school.
Senior boys' champion is Steven Whyte who won the 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m track events. Caitlyn Lyttle is senior girls' champion and broke the senior girls javelin record with a distance of 31.06m as well as winning the senior girls discus and shot put events.
Shalom Broughton took out the intermediate boys' award breaking the shot put record from 1965 with a distance of 13.55m. Shalom also won the intermediate boys' high jump, discus and javelin events.
Our top intermediate girls' competition was very close with Armani Martelli-Ririnui, Elin Tawharu and Levi Painter the top three competitors. Our top three junior boys' competitors were Tarras Rall, Tanner Baxter and Stefan Heuberger.
The final results and the athletics champion for the intermediate girls' and junior boys' will be announced after the 3000m event to be held today.
Charlotte Drabble broke three junior girls' records in the 100m, with a time of 13.45s, the 200m record that had stood since 1981 with a time of 27.79 and also the long jump record by 0.02 of a metre with a distance of 4.82m.
Caitlyn Harris broke the junior girls' 300m record held by Cindy Goodlet since 1995 with a time of 50.03s and the junior girls' javelin record was broken by Ella Raymond with a distance of 21.80.
