From 7pm tonight major earthworks will take place on State Highway 2 at Papamoa as part of the Tauranga Eastern Link project.

The works will involved the removal of surcharge material from the Domain Rd interchange western bridge embankment.

Large earthmoving machinery will be required to cross the highway.

At the SH2 roundabout, Te Puke to Papamoa-bound trafic will be managed by a manual stop/go system with a 30km/h temporary speed restriction in place.

The works are expected to operated between 7pm and 6am tomorrow through to Thursday May 1.
