The Tauranga Swimming Club's renaissance under new head coach Paul Kane looks set to continue thanks to council deciding to open the Memorial Park facility all year round.
No date had yet been set for the extended opening hours, but Kane said the move would help to continue the club's rapid growth.
"We're looking for the pool to be open all year round in the next couple of years," said Kane, who coached swimming in the Waikato region for 15 years .
"I think that will make a huge difference to the club in that it hasn't had that for about 20 years.
"This pool is open for six months and for the rest of the time we go to the polytech pool. When we are here fulltime the club will be away."
