The Watsons Wanganui Under-15 and Under-13 teams were comfortable winners in their games against Horowhenua Kapiti.
Steady batting from James Russell (52 from 96 balls) and hitting from Angus Dinwiddie (65 from 75, five boundaries) were the anchor innings of Wanganui U15's solid 234-7 from their 50 overs on Sunday.Most of the other batsmen got starts to pitch into the total.
Wanganui U15 then rolled Horowhenua Kapiti for 104 after 36 overs.
James Pennefather had excellent figures of 4-18, including four maidens, from his 10 overs.
He got the Horowhenua Kapiti openers and their top scorer T Morgan (29) later on, as part of his haul.
Harry Godfrey took 2-11 from his four overs, while Joel Clark had 2-18 from his four.
In reply, Wanganui took 26 overs, 10 fewer than their Horowhenua Kapiti opposition, to reach 158, helped by Adam Lennox retiring at the top of the order after scoring 55 from 43 balls, including eight boundaries.
His opening partner Godrey added 24 and while Wanganui had some concern with run-outs and went from 116-3 to 130-5, they still snaffled the remaining runs in short order.
