Wanganui triathletes and every day people looking for a bit of fun made their presence felt at the Ironmaori Half Ironman, held at Pandora Pond in Napier last weekend.
The 72-year-old veteran Tony Fantham won the 65-plus age group section, while Brian Tweed was victorious in the Men's 50-54 year section.
Wanganui police dog handler Jason Page came third in the Men's 35-39 section as well as sixth overall, with chemist Adam Holmes right behind him in fifth (eighth overall).
More than just a fun sports day for Maori athletes and whanau, the Ironmaori had 2130 competitors as individuals and teams from around the country and some coming from overseas.
Page and Holmes had been encouraged by Coriinne Te Au-Watson from the Wanganui Multisport and Triathlon Club to take part, after she had done three Ironmaori events this year.
