Two races ago, the Lisa Cole-prepared Jilliby Litsa flew through her 520m Hatrick assignment in a smart 29.89s.
December's Group 1 Spion Rose 520m winner is poised to produce another freewheeling effort from the three trap in this evening's main 520m event (race 9).
She can be forgiven her laststart Cambridge 457m miss where she suffered from an impeded racing passage.
The field really opens up when taking a look at her rivals. The vastly experienced Bigtime Rod has taken on a new lease of life which includes his 30.35s lower grade 520m win last Friday.
The winner of $127,773 backed that up when delivering his Monday Manawatu 457m second, by a length. He has drawn handily in trap two for his 135th race day outing this evening.
Bigtime Brody is another Cole contender who is also racing in the twilight of his solid career. He makes his return here from the four trap after his recent sound Cambridge and Manawatu 457m minor placings.
Haidee Bale was gunned down by Bigtime Rod when she was caught by a head last week. She keeps on producing sound, on-the-pace efforts for her trainers, Gary and Sandra Fredrickson. Another bold race from trap seven can be expected by her, despite giving away a slice of class.
The Cole-trained inside drawn pair of Bigtime Angel (one) and Big Time Gwyn (two) are likely to receive clear racing passages in the open class 305m dash (race 5).
The presence of Wifi Bolt in trap three is likely to assist the inside drawn girls as this bloke isn't likely to place any pressure on them as he tends to race away from the rail. In saying that, his claim here certainly cannot be dismissed. He has delivered competitive recent sprints for the Fredricksons and they have come from inside traps.
Big Time Gwyn led home Wifi Bolt when she scampered to her 5-1/4 length Manawatu 23.64s Tuesday 410m win. Tucked in just a length astern of them was Big Time Angel.
Both Big Time Kevin and Big Time Fuzz offer sound back up claims for Cole in this sprint.
Incidentally, it was appropriate that the talented Nova Willow brought up Cole's 400th winner for the season when she cruised to her 29.99s 520m win last Friday.
The meeting marked the halfway point for the current season and the kennel commenced last night's Addington premier meeting with 414 winners produced from the Palmerston North-based operation.
