The Whanganui DHB is running a DrinkCheck Month campaign to get residents thinking about appropriate alcohol use.
A campaign to get Whanganui residents to think more about appropriate alcohol consumption is being carried out by the district health board this month.
Four events have been organised for what is often known as Dry July and the first of which - focused on foetal alcohol spectrum disorder -already took place on Thursday and was totally booked out.
There will also be a Relapse Prevention Group Open Day on Tuesday at Te Oranganui Iwi Health Authority's offices on Campbell St from 10am.
Attendees will experience group interventions, ask questions, learn about coping strategies from people with a 'lived-experience' of addictions, share success stories and learn about other support groups in the community.
There will be two stalls in operation on Wednesday, July 18 at 10am and another at the same time a week later at Trafalgar Square.
The first of those will discuss the effects of alcohol on body parts, whether intoxicated or just regular use, as well as conditions related to chronic drinking.
The second stall will let people check if the amount they drink is appropriate for their health or not.
The Health Promotion Agency has a quiz to check if your drinking is out of control.
