A huntaway cross found wandering the Wanganui streets is among the more than 20 dogs and one goat currently at the Wanganui pound.
The four-month-old puppy is described by staff as a neat little dog and was found in a sorry state. Another is a border collie-beagle who was broughtinto the pound in an attempt to re-home him.
Last week the kennels were completely full and animal control officers had to return animals they picked up instead of impounding them for the owners to pick up.
Wanganui pound is open from 12pm to 1pm and 3.30pm to 4.30pm Monday to Friday, and 12pm to 1pm on Saturday.
