Top model mentor heads to Whanganui for workshop

Six young talents will have the opportunity to work with one of New Zealand's top fashion mentors in Whanganui this Sunday - as well as being a part of the City's soon-to-launch modelling agency.

Coming from Auckland, Amanda Betts brings to Whanganui her 32 years of fashion industry experience for an all-day workshop at Nga Tai O Te Awa on the corner of Guyton and Wilson St.

Ms Betts is a guest of Whanganui's new modelling agency founder, Carla Jayne Smith.

Ms Smith's agency called embrace model management has been in the making for the past few months and an official launch will take place on October 22.

"Amanda's visit is an exciting teaser of what's in store for this exciting new venture."

Ms Smith said she has hand picked six people to participate in the workshop and all will be signing with the agency.

"They are coming from as far as Wellington for an exclusive workshop on modelling with myself and Amanda.

"Amanda has connections all over the world and has placed thousands of models into jobs and careers in New Zealand and internationally so it is an amazing opportunity for Whanganui," Ms Smith said.

Working with model agencies Cyne and 62 Models, ms betts has gone on to co-found one of New Zealand's most powerful model and talent agencies, Red 11 models.
