"Reflecting on where I came from helps me appreciate what I have now." — Meghan Markle A quote from our newest (to be) royal, seems appropriate this week.
Dear Harry, the Prince who laughed his way into our lives when down under, has found his bride. A beautiful American woman whowants to be at his side and part of the family firm. Blessings to them as they enter this new adventure.
Reflecting on where we have come from and the journey we have had at the end of each day is what makes us. We are always moving and reaching for the stars. Sometimes it is in small fairy steps and sometimes in giant strides and sometimes it seems like we are stuck in the mud.
One of the greatest things my Angels have shared with me during this year, is that the words and messages we give each other have a huge effect on how we get through life. It is much easier to complain, be dissatisfied and even at times abusive, than it is to be grateful, to show appreciation and to recognise the wonderful things people do for us. I know it is easier to do this when someone does something lovely for us, or are there in our moment of need.
How much more precious is it, when we tangle with people who seem to niggle at the very core of who we think we are. We know we have attained new heights of living when we can be grateful, humble and understanding especially in the difficult times.
In these last weeks of December as preparation for 2018, let's practise gratitude and in doing so increasing our self-awareness. It is the best way I know how to love myself and others, and take charge of my life.
Comments like these can be the greatest and most precious gift for Christmas. "What would I do without you in my life". "Words cannot express my feelings, nor my thanks for all your help". "Although it hasn't been easy, I appreciate you in my life, thank you for hanging in there". "Someday I will give back what you have given to me". Try these, see what happens. In the wise words of Alice Walker — author, activist, Women's Rights activist, Civil Rights activist — "Thank you is the best prayer that anyone could say. I say that one a lot.
Thank you expresses extreme gratitude, humility, and understanding". Arohanui. Shirley-Joy.
