The Wanganui Jazz Club welcomes back Erna Ferry's Bongo Club featuring Rodger Fox.
This dynamic duo are bringing with them the same band that played so brilliantly a year ago almost to the day.
The Bongo Club features the best in percussion, horns and vocals playing a cross-section of Latin /
Jazz and Blues music. The choice of material hardly matters as long as Erna is doing the singing and Rodger is blowing his trombone. Their wonderful partnership is supported by some of the country's finest young musicians.
The line-up includes Daniel Hayles - keyboards, Nick Granville - guitar, Rowan Clark - bass, Lauren Ellis - drums and Bryn Van Vliet - saxophone.
We are guaranteed a great evening of sweet, swinging sounds with some adventurous musicianship.
Erna and Rodger do more than just entertain - they have been teaching, mentoring and inspiring the youth of this country for many years. The Rodger Fox Big Band has become a New Zealand institution, with scores of players passing through its ranks.
This year the band will be playing at the 60th edition of The Monterey Jazz Festival in California. We celebrate this significant achievement with everyone involved in jazz music in New Zealand.
