"I've only taken up walking in the last year and I've been walking five kilometres three or four times a week. I thought I'd get outside my comfort zone on Sunday so I'm doing the 10km walk - I'm ready to rumble."
And she promises Sunday's walk won't be "a oncer".
Given she's at work very early every weekday morning, her training happens in the afternoons and weekends, a regime that has seen her stepping over a regular course around the Dublin St bridge and Aramoho rail bridge.
Sunday's event is expected to be greeted by fresh westerlies and high of 18C. And according to MetService's long-range forecast there may be the odd shower around.
The event will raise money to support the YMCA's Send A Kid To Camp Campaign, an initiative that gets children from Wanganui to the YMCA's Raukawa Adventure Centre.
Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $2 for children under 11. There are plenty of prizes and prizegiving will take place at 11am.
