A disqualified driver was caught driving the day after buying a new car.
Jason Albert Hall admitted in the Whanganui District Court on Tuesday to driving while disqualified for a third or subsequent time on December 28 last year along Holdsworth Drive.
He had a 5-year-old child in the car with him at the time.
He was remanded to May 24 for sentencing.

Conor Bryan Hourigan admitted a charge of assault, described by counsel Anna Brosnahan as out of character. He was remanded to April 4 for a restorative justice programme and sentencing.
Judge Dugald Matheson said restorative justice was a key programme in Whanganui "and as judges we read what happens".

A text photo of an estranged relative holding a passport set off Louise Nathalia Ellegard Sorensen who admitted sending threatening text and voice messages. An initial charge of threatening to kill was amended to using threatening language.
Sorensen's relative lives in Hamilton with the victim.
She was sentenced to one month's community detention, which was to be added to an existing sentence.

Kahurangi Matthew Edwards, 52, of no fixed abode, was asleep on a park bench in Victoria Ave when he said he went into Avenue Choices tobacco shop for a smoke to calm his nerves, despite having been trespassed.
Edwards was ushered out of the store and the owner locked the door behind him.
Edwards pleaded not guilty to wilful trespass and a trial date of May 22 has been set.
He told the court he had been locked up for 30 years and had been out for 17 years.

Oscar Lutterell will be sentenced on May 24 for a variety of convictions including theft from cars, possession of an offensive weapon and breaches of bail.
Judge Matheson ordered a restorative justice programme and a pre-sentence report which was to assess if electronic home detention might be a sentencing option.
The theft from cars took place in Hamilton on December 7.

Mark Skipper admitted stealing a vehicle worth $25,000 from Mt Maunganui and which was later written off.
He pleaded guilty to two further charges of failing to stop for police and reckless driving in Marton.
Skipper was remanded in custody to May 31 for sentencing.
Judge Matheson noted Skipper had matters in four different courts.

A woman turned up to alcohol and drug counselling "intoxicated to a very high level", the court was told.
Amanda Dale Walpole moved to Whanganui from Rotorua following a toxic relationship.
She admitted charges of driving drunk on February 9, and on February 16 to driving while suspended, refusing to give a blood sample, refusing to accompany police and resisting police.
Judge Matheson noted she had eight convictions for driving drunk.
Her car was impounded and she was declined bail. She is to appear on May 31 for sentencing.

Miriama Christina Luke admitted driving drunk and driving dangerously.
She hit a power pole and a brick fence and will be sentenced on May 31, with a possibility of electronic home detention.

Thomas James Ben Falloon, freezing worker of Whanganui, was told he should pushbike to work.
His car was confiscated and he was fined $960 including court costs and disqualified from driving for nine months from May.
Falloon drove to work after missing out on a ride and was caught driving while disqualified on 10 and 11 February.
Judge Matheson said court orders were there to protect the public and yet he chose to drive.
"It's pushbikes for you from now on."

Despite six previous convictions for drunk driving, Michael Anthony Bristol may qualify for electronic home detention.
Bristol admitted a charge of driving drunk for a third or subsequent time and was remanded to May 31 for sentence.
Judge Matheson noted that it had been eight years since Bristol's last conviction, and six years before that and 10 years before that.
"The door remains open for home detention but that is not a fait accompli or an assurance that you won't go to jail," the judge said.
Bristol was granted bail.

Jordan Peter Collin Mcdonnell will be sentenced on March 14 for sustained loss of traction.
Mcdonnell has relocated to Whanganui from Timaru.
