THE NUNS and priests of St Anthony's Church are all smiles outside their new building, which was formally blessed during the Feast of the Immaculate Conception in the weekend.
The ground floor of the two-storey building has six classrooms for girls at St Dominic's high school, while the second
storey houses the church's Dominican nuns.
St Anthony's priest Father Francois Laisney said the building had taken two years to complete. Father Laisney said St Dominic's and the attached primary school, St Anthony's, had been growing so fast that the nuns and the high school girls had had to make do with a house down the road.
"Now the school is united, it's a proper school. It's not makeshift anymore."
Mother Micaela, of the Dominican nuns, said she and the other sisters were thrilled with their new convent.
"It's so much more spacious, and it's close to the school and the church. It's wonderful."
Father Laisney said it was a relief to have the building finished. "Now we can rest no more building work!"
