Year 1 students at Gonville School know all about looking after their eyes.
Thursday morning saw Wanganui optometrist John Mellsop at the school to help the nine students brush-up on their eye protection while reading, working on the computer and playing safe.
Each of the children received a free pairof sunglasses which they immediately donned for a picture in the bright morning sun.
Visique is running a nationwide competition for classes to submit a short and simple video of their school hosting a Visique Have a Sunny Day.
Gonville School is one of eight schools across the nation that have been selected to enter the competition.
The short video will feature the students from Year 1 to Year 8 in a one-minute to five-minute sequence of the youngsters wearing sunglasses, and all the tips to protect your eyes.
The winning school will receive $1000 and sunglasses for the winning class.
