Fire crews have been called to a fire at a Rapanui Rd property.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand confirmed that they were called to the property near Kai Iwi Beach just after 12.30pm on Thursday where a sleepout was "fully involved with fire".

Two appliances and one tanker responded to the blaze, and were still on the scene as of 1:25pm.

Fire and Emergency said it was too early to determine whether the blaze was suspicious or not.

More to come.
