Some wanted to share flood stories, some probably wanted to talk about anything but ...
A third Rural Support Trust flood-relief get-together was held at Pukeko's Nest in Westmere on Wednesday evening.
Attended by at least 30 farmers from the north of the district, it was a chance to enjoya social setting after a month of flood recovery.
"It's really all about getting people off farms and off tractors and getting them into a social environment where they can have a talk and a drink," Federated Farmers Wanganui president Brian Doughty said.
"They can meet people that are in a similar set of circumstances. It's as simple as that," Mr Doughty said.
Run by the Rural Support Trust, similar functions had already been held at Fordell and Upokongaro.
Ted Carver farms at Rangitatau East. He said the flooding there was not quite as bad as in 2006 but there was still damage to boundary fencing and tracks.
"It's a good catch-up and to talk to farms to see what sorts of situations they're in ... and to see who's got a digger that we can use."
