Small Talks, formerly Pic Chat and Pecha Kutcha, is looking for people with something to say to speak to an always appreciative and supportive crowd at their next evening on June 29.
Organisers Kathy Cunningham, Neil Jones and Michelle Aston-Koedyck are on the lookout for people able to express themselves succinctly on any subject they're particularly passionate about.
There's no theme, but there are rules: no religion, no politics and no self-promotion, otherwise, anything goes.
The trick is, you speak to a sequence of 15 images, at 20 seconds per image. Those pictures, photos or graphics, provided by you, the speaker, are projected on a large screen for the audience to see. That makes each presentation last five minutes.
Neil takes care of technical stuff, Michelle does graphic design and front of house and Kathy does whatever else. They all volunteer their time so all funds raised go to the chosen charity, Whanganui SPCA.
Small Talks teams with Bayleys who provide the venue, sound system, screen and seating, promotion, and tickets are also available from their office in Wicksteed St.
If you think you have a subject, a passion, a need to express your feelings about something and can source the pictures to illustrate it, get hold of Kathy now on 021 743378 or email kathy@empirepr.co.nz
