Dogs get dressed up for Bridges run

Dress up yourself, your friends and your family - even your dog.

The Property Brokers 39th Annual Round the Bridges Fun Run/Walk is on this Sunday and people are being encouraged to wear fancy dress for the event.

They are also being encouraged to take their pets along - and dress them up, too.

Entrants in the fun run and walk - which is being sponsored for the sixth year by Wanganui Property Brokers - can participate in the 5km or 10km while there is a 1km option for children.

The Wanganui Chronicle is organising the event and has been running training schedules in each Monday edition and in the Midweek community paper.

Up to 2000 people are expected to take part and there are a range of spot prizes available for fancy dress, corporate, schools and general and cutest pet.

The entry fee is $5 for adults and $2 for children and these can be bought at the Wanganui Chronicle office, Property Brokers and Sport Whanganui.

All proceeds from entry fees will go to this year's charity, Birthright Wanganui.

Birthright Wanganui has four staff and 154 Whanganui families on its books, helping 364 children.

It is a not-for-profit organisation and financial help such as Round the Bridges keeps it ticking over.

The start and finish is at Kowhai Park with registration open at 8am and race start times staggered after that. Prizegiving is at 11am.
