Too funky for folk and too folky for funk - that is how Andre Manella describes the music he makes as Sonic Delusion.
Manella will play at the Ladies' Rest in St Hill St tomorrow as part of a nationwide tour.
The New Zealand-based Swiss-Kiwi musician describes himselfas "one of the original one-man-banders" and says he has been using looping technology for more than 10 years.
For his Whanganui gig next, he will be accompanied by Missie Moffat of Glass Boat, who played in Whanganui for La Fiesta in March.
Moffat will provide percussion, drums, backing vocals and French import Severin Thiebaut will play bass and keyboards.
He says he has now played more than 500 gigs in New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland and Germany and at international festivals.
He is also known for playing unorthodox venues, including a purpose-built stage on the roof of his family's housebus, a shop roof, on a lake, and lounges around the country.
Sonic Delusion will play songs from the recently released fourth album This Material World.
Sonic Delusion performs at the Ladies' Rest at 7.30pm tomorrow. Men are welcome.
Tickets are $20 and can be bought through eventfinda.
