There were 163 new community cases of Covid-19 in the Whanganui region, according to the Ministry of Health. Photo / Bevan Conley

Covid-19 cases in the Whanganui region are continuing to rise with 163 new cases reported today.

It is the highest number of new community cases since April 19, when there were 186.

The Ministry of Health reported five people were in Whanganui Hospital with Covid-19.

Nationally, there were 10,710 new community cases.

Throughout the country, 554 people were in hospital with Covid-19.

The ministry reported the deaths of 15 people with Covid-19.
