Countdown staff fundraise for kids

Children at Wanganui Hospital have had a substantial equipment boost thanks to the generosity of Countdown supermarket staff nationwide.
For nine years, staff have been contributing to Countdown Kids Hospital Appeal charity. They have raised more than $9.6m for New Zealand hospitals.
"This is the second time that Wanganui Hospital has received a share," says Diane Savage, checkout manager at Countdown Victoria Ave. "This year throughout the country we raised $1.1m, and it's all blood, sweat and tears by the staff, really."
Wanganui Hospital will benefit to the tune of $30,000 which will go towards the purchase of a vital signs monitor. "It records heart rate, blood pressure, temperature ... it's for acutely sick children," says Janene Louwrens, clinical nurse manager.
The machine will be purchased early in the new year.
