Christmas in the Pa will be held at Ratana on Saturday with a line up of demonstrations and activities for all the family.
Among them will be the Roopu Rawakore Kaumatua Sit Fit, whose members were, on Wednesday, taking their weekly one-hour class in the heat with Whanganui District HealthBoard's Ora Nyman.
The women, aged in their 80s and 90s, said they loved the classes, which involved them exercising to music for half an hour.
Girlie Hemi, 82, said she looked forward to the classes, which she had attended now for four years, as well as travelling to Palmerston North for dialysis three times a week.
Pauline Ririnui said Roopu Rawakore was set up for widows and orphans, and former Western Maori MP Iriaka Ratana was a strong proponent of it.
Ratana Maramatanga Sports Club administrator Lynn Haenga said Christmas in the Pa was another way to bring everyone together to enjoy an afternoon of activities with a sports focus.
The event will start at 2pm on Saturday and include an afternoon packed with activities for all ages.
