The impressive Powderhorn Chateau stands in its timber glory on the Mountain Rd, Ohakune Junction corner.
Owners Annie and Paul Scarf moved the original 1919 Carter homestead on to the site.
In 1995 the hotel, the Matterhorn Restaurant and two conference rooms were built on to the building.
The Carter family was one
of the founders of Carter Holt Harvey from the sawmilling era and the ceiling in the Powderkeg Restaurant is from the original homestead.
Mr Scarf opened the Powderhorn Ski and Board shop in 1987 and over the years has developed the business..
The successful fundraising fashion show for the new St John Waimarino Centre was held in the upstairs Matterhorn and events manager Danielle Oryino said more events were to come.
Ms Oryino, from Bournemouth in England, said she came to Ohakune on a ski trip and never went home.
"It's like a little family, I love it here."
