Most people would not think to grow cannabis for artistic purposes. Richard Chan is not most people, Whanganui District Court discovered on Wednesday.
The artist pleaded guilty to cultivating cannabis, but Crown prosecutor Lance Rowe said some of the plant was being used in artwork.
Chan had submitted some of
his art to UCOL for an exhibition, but the cannabis from the art "went missing". That could be expected, Mr Rowe said.
He was convicted and remanded to July 6 for sentence.
