A man who managed to stay off the police radar for seven years was finally convicted and sentenced on Wednesday in Whanganui District Court.
Bronson Kingi Taurerewa 32, admitted threatening to kill, two charges of male assaults female and two charges of breaching protection orders. Further charges of driving while
disqualified and wilful damage were withdrawn.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Steve Butler told the court that while the offending happened in Auckland in 2006, Taurerewa failed to appear at an Auckland court.
Sergeant Butler said Taurerewa had not come to the attention of police until he came to the Wanganui Police. Defence counsel Roger Crowley said a community work sentence was appropriate.
Taurerewa was sentenced to 60 hours of community workand convicted and discharged for breaching a community work order and failing to appear.
