Downers staff have been busy at Castlecliff Beach this week tidying up the beach in front of the surf club in readiness for the holiday period.
Whanganui District Council parks and recreation officer Dave Kerwin said the council had contracted Downers for the work which is expected to cost about $6000. Mr Kerwin said the flooding in June had meant more logs need to be cleared from this area, but the recent spell of strong westerlies had not created any extra work.
The job is likely to be completed this week.
