Around 160 children from 10 gymnastics clubs took to the mats at the Wanganui Boys & Girls Gym Club over the weekend for the 2015 Wanganui Opens artistic competition.
The boys' events were held on Sunday with 30 competitors, before the big girls' events yesterday with 130 taking part in bar, beam, vault and floor routines.
Club head coach Kelly Taylor-Ward said there was a good level of competition for the club's Level 4 boys as they work towards qualification for the national championships.
William Warburton and Amardin Firaza came second and third respectively behind overall winner, Rimutaka's Alexander Sims.
In Level 2, Wanganui's Jayden Fergusson was the overall boys' winner.
The girls' events ran all day yesterday and the Wanganui Chronicle will have the results later this week.
