Gyrocopter owners and flyers from around New Zealand had a terrific time at Whanganui on Saturday, John O'Leary says.
He organised the group of about 15 from the New Zealand Autogyro Association to base themselves at the Wanganui Aero Club for their winter fly-in.
They were to spend the whole weekend, but most had left by yesterday afternoon because the weather was expected to turn bad.
On Saturday the group flew north to a private airstrip near Wai Inu Beach. That afternoon they flew to Westmere, to see Richmond Harding's aircraft hangar.
Yesterday they were to fly around with fixed-wing aircraft at Feilding Airfield. Only one did that, a Tauranga flyer who then flew home from there.
Others chose to do more local flights, or to fly home.Only those who could take their small aircraft home on trailers still remained yesterday afternoon.
