Whanganui District Council chief executive Kym Fell has confirmed a management restructure at the Royal Wanganui Opera House and Whanganui War Memorial Centre.

Mr Fell said the positions were to be replaced by the creation of one management role overseeing multiple venues.

"The affected employees have opted to take redundancy and venture onto new opportunities outside of the organisation, rather than apply for the new position," Mr Fell said.

"The new management position will ensure that there is a more cohesive approach across multiple venues to cross-sell, share personnel whilst benefiting from economies of scale."
The newly created position is to be advertised.

"This restructure is relatively minor in the scheme of council business, however it is part of an ongoing continuous improvement philosophy to deliver better services to our community."
