"In a nutshell, we are trying to protect women and children and provide guidance and direction for women to nurture their children into a life that will alter vastly from the one they are trapped in," ball committee chairwoman Sharon Warburton said.
Most of the funds will be raised from a short live auction on the night and a silent auction currently open on www.thegreatball.nz.
Ms Wade encouraged people to head to the website and start bidding to "really help our fundraising efforts to the max".
Items at the live auction include a Suzuki Swift, a diamond pendant, a house renovation package, and out of town trips or packages.
Rodger Fox Band with Erna Ferry are the main entertainment, and there will also be a specialist whisky bar at the ball.
Information can be found on the website or on The Great Ball Whanganui on Facebook.
Some tickets are still available - inquiries can be sent to Helen on 021 103 0737.
