Rubbish horrifies Parapara woman

A Parapara resident got more than she bargained for when she stopped to take a photo on the side of the road.

Jill Gregory, who lives on State Highway 4 but works in Whanganui, pulled over at the top of the Aberfeldy Hill one morning last week on her way to work.

"It was a gorgeous morning and I pulled over to take a photo of the light on the hills. I looked down the hill and was disgusted by what I saw."

Spread out down the bank below her was a huge pile of rubbish.

"There were carpets and clothing and bits of metal and just general household rubbish. It looked like someone had a big clean-out of their house and dropped it down there."

Ms Gregory has lived on SH4 for seven years and has never seen anything like it in the area.

"I hope someone is ashamed of what they've done."

Ms Gregory said she was horrified at the thought of tourists seeing the rubbish.

"A couple of days later I saw some other people stopping there and really hoped they weren't tourists. You can't miss that pile of rubbish."
