The secrets of calligraphy will be revealed in a one-day workshop on Saturday.
Auckland-based Kate Hursthouse will run the workshop at Space Gallery.
Participants will learn the basics of calligraphy and hand-lettering, including the difference between hand-lettering, calligraphy and typography. A variety of pens and tools will be used, and participants will go home with their own brush pen.
The workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some experience. Tickets to the workshop are $110, or $80 for students.
Space Gallery owner Sarah Williams said there were still some places available, and there were a couple of special deals available. If you book your full-price ticket by Friday you can bring a friend for half price. There are also two student tickets to give away.
To enter, email hello@katehursthouse.com with "student giveaway" in the subject line.
Miss Williams said it was the first time the gallery had held a workshop.
"It came about because Kate is part of a group exhibition opening on Saturday and we came up with the idea of her having a workshop here.
"I thought it would be a good use of our upstairs studio space."
The exhibition, Place, features five Auckland artists and five Whanganui artists. It was co-curated by Miss Williams and her business mentor, Lyn Dallison.
