Construction workers called the police after witnessing a man knock a female off her feet with a kick to the buttocks.
Jake Akuhata Nicholson was walking with the victim on March 4 when he kicked her, police prosecutor Sergeant Stephen Butler said on Tuesday.
Nearby construction workers saw the attack,and told Nicholson to leave the victim alone. Nicholson and the victim continued on their walk. The construction workers directed police to him.
He told police it was "just another day" and said "she hit me first".
Nicholson pleaded guilty in the Whanganui District Court to common assault and failing to answer police bail.
