Taihape's legendary pub, the Gretna Hotel, will celebrate its reopening anniversary on March 19.

Local Jordan Winiata-Haine's company, Awarua A & J Ltd, bought the business and reopened the 119-year-old pub in March 2015, after a three-month closure following the death of its 85-year-old lessee, Norm Theobald.

Manager Kim Steedman said to celebrate there would two bands playing 60s and 70s music starting about "8ish".

"It's a rage. That's what we're calling it, and that's what it will be.

The car park has been let as a campervan park and staff are hoping the anniversary night will attract outsiders, she said.

Mrs Steedman said business at the old pub had been going very well. "We have a lot of locals here regularly - they really support us."

The Anniversary Rage will have a $5 cover charge.

"It will be a good night. There's a lot to celebrate."
