A settlement has been reached between the National Rural Fire Authority and the person responsible for a forest fire in Bulls last year.
The NRFA recovered all of the approximately $105,000 in fire control costs in the final and confidential settlement, which was made last month.
The authority reimbursed the Rangitikei District Council, who originally footed the bill, in July last year before undertaking its own legal review to decide whether to pursue legal action against any party.
The Santoft blaze on February 5 was sparked by an incinerator. It needed 130 firefighters, 23 fire engines, three helicopters and a fixed-wing aircraft to bring it under control.
It was in the top 20 per cent in terms of cost claims last summer.
