St George's School senior lifesavers are tops in the region since both the girls' and boys' teams won the shields for the region last month.
Teacher and coach Sue Van Dort said the junior team also placed second in the competition and some students like Ella Pudney, Harriet Yorston had already been competing for three years.
"They were part of the team that won the junior competition last year," said Mrs Van Dort.
"The teams put in an amazing effort this year - they have been getting out of bed for training at 6.30 in the morning to practice at the Splash Centre and I haven't heard a moan or a whinge," she said.
Some of the 11-year-old students from the teams will be competing again next year and said they look forward to the challenge and hope to win the 103-year-old shield again.
