Young parents now have a place they can call their own when they're in the CBD.
It's called Koko Konnect and is in Victoria Court.
On Wednesday Jigsaw Whanganui young parents project team leader Liz Mahoney told the gathering of invited guests from community agencies that Koko Konnect was a conversation that began 18 months ago. Following two years of planning, Mayor Annette Main officially opened Koko Konnect.
Ms Mahoney said Jigsaw started hearing from young men and women that there was nowhere for them to meet when they were in the city.
Koko Konnect will give them somewhere to meet and share ideas and through the generosity of sharing they will develop and grow, Ms Mahoney said. The parents and Jigsaw staff played around with many ideas for a name and decided on Koko which those in the conversation said was warm, friendly and welcoming.
