Waikato crash: State Highway 1 near Tirau closed as emergency services respond to serious crash

Waikato police are responding to a serious crash which has closed part of State Highway 1 near Tirau.

A police spokesperson said the crash is blocking the road in both directions and is closed 3km north of Tirau.

Three people have been seriously injured.

“Motorists travelling toward Cambridge on SH1 should expect lengthy delays,” they said.

Diversions will be signposted.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.
