The 17-year-old boy shot is in hospital with minor injuries.

A man who shot and injured a 17-year-old boy last night in Hamilton is still on the run.

Police are looking for a man in a white car in connection to the shooting, which left the teenager in hospital with minor injuries.

Police and Armed Offenders Squad were at Norrie St just after 8.30pm yesterday after gunshots were fired.

It is the third shooting incident on the street in 16 months. On Saturday a man was shot in the leg, and in February last year, a 29-year-old man was fatally shot.

Police have said there is no danger to the public in relation to yesterday's incident.

They have not said if there is any connection between the shooting of the teen and Saturday's attack.

A Norrie St resident, who didn't want to be named, said she heard three gunshots last night. "I heard them and then nothing - not even sirens."

The resident said she normally felt safe on the street, but wouldn't go outside at night.
