One person has died after a crash involving a motorbike and a vehicle on Te Poi Rd, near the intersection with State Highway 29.

The accident happened at about 1.20pm and the road was still closed at 5pm on Friday.

A Police spokesperson confirmed the motorcycle rider died at the scene.

“Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the motorbike rider passed away at the scene a short time later.”

The Serious Crash Unit was in attendance on Friday afternoon and Te Poi Rd was closed while emergency services worked to clear the road.
