Police are at the scene of an incident that has closed off a road in Hamilton.

Diversions have been put in place on Matangi Rd, in the suburb of Hillcrest, this afternoon.

Police issued an advisory about 2.45pm and told members of the public to find an alternative route if travelling through.

Motorists are advised there are diversions at the intersections of Matangi Rd and Morrinsville Rd, Polar Lane and Dalbeth Place.

Authorities are yet to give details about the circumstances of the incident.
