A man has been arrested after allegedly shooting a person in the Waikato township of Paeroa this morning.

Police were called to a property near the intersection of Corbett Street and Albert St shortly before 11am after reports that a firearm had been discharged.

One person was located with minor injuries, consistent with a gunshot wound and police recovered a firearm - believed to be the one involved in this morning’s incident.

A 33-year-old man is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court tomorrow charged with wounding with reckless disregard and commission of an offence with a firearm.
