Representative tournament U15s and U17s

The TWHCNC Representative tournament for U15s and U17s was held last Sunday at the Hamilton City Netball Centre.

The focus of the tournament was to give teams plenty of game time opportunities rather than to find an overall winner in each age group.

The tournament was also good preparation for those teams entered into the U15 National Championships and U17 Age Group Championships, both of which are played during the July school holiday period.

The "fog that never lifts" that Hamilton is known for was present for most of the day but this did not deter the players, spectators and volunteers.

Eighteen teams were entered in the U17s and these were broken into four pools; one with six teams and the remaining pools with four teams.

Pool 1 with six teams played three games each and the winner was determined by goal count back. The remaining pools played a round robin of three games to determine a winner.

The games were 4 x 10 minute quarters. Thirty teams were entered in the U15s and these were broken into five pools of six teams. Each pool played a round robin of five games to determine a winner. The games were 2 x 10 minutes halves. A win was worth three points, a draw two points and a loss three goals or less one point.

Overall it was a great competitive day and congratulations to all teams involved. And while a lot of credit goes to the players for their skill, ability and commitment on court, acknowledgment and thanks also goes to the coaches, managers, physios, umpires, supporters and spectators. Also thanks to the many volunteers who organise and run the tournament. The efforts of everyone on the day was appreciated by the Trust Waikato Hamilton City Netball Centre.
