New Zealand Management Academies (NZMA) Waikato has just introduced its first-ever diploma level study programme.

The academy now offers the National Diploma in Hospitality Management - a two year course which aims to fine-tune practical skills and give students a sound knowledge of operations management and systems management within the hospitality industry.

"It's something many of our students have been requesting, as they are keen to staircase onto further study with us. This new course will address their need for higher-level learning," says academy manager Marama Tahapehi.

The course starts on July 23 and is accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.

The academy is also now accepting international students for the first time.

NZMA is 'growing'.

Previously on Level 10 Tower Building above Hamilton's Centre Place, the academy has shifted to Level 2 because of the demand for space. The upmarket, new premises provide spacious classrooms and a state-of-the art training bar and café.

Ms Tahapehi says NZMA students are now training in some of the best facilities in the city.

"We are all so excited about the new academy. The facilities are fantastic, and will cater for our growing student numbers. We are introducing our National Diploma in Hospitality Management in July, so to have these facilities will give real life training for our students, their families and our communities. Our staff are dedicated and passionate about making a meaningful difference," says Marama.

The VIP grand opening of the new premises took place on July 4 and included a special address from guest speaker, Tariana Turia, co-leader of the Maori Party and Associate Minister, Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment.
