Kiwi boy, 7, invents Wolf Holiday and it has already gone viral

A seven-year-old boy from Hamilton decided to create a new holiday to add to the calendar and the whole world seems to be fully behind his idea.

The Wolf Holiday, named Wolfenoot, was created by the Hamilton boy and honours his love for all animals.

His mum, author Jax Goss, posted about his invention on Facebook and it has since gone viral.

"My son has invented a holiday called Wolfenoot," she wrote on Facebook.

"It is when the Spirit of the Wolf brings and hides small gifts around the house for everyone. People who have, have had, or are kind to dogs get better gifts than anyone else."

There are some specific "traditions" associated with Wolfenoot that you are encouraged to follow, including eating roast meat (because wolves eat meat) and a cake decorated like the full moon.

"A holiday to the spirit of wolves that celebrates people who are kind to dogs? I can 100% get behind this," she adds. "So we will be celebrating Wolfenoot. It's on the 23rd November if anyone else is moved to celebrate it."

The mum encourages anyone who celebrates Wolfenoot to use the hashtag #wolfenoot and share photos so the boy can see how his idea spread.

The post went up on Facebook last week and has since gone viral so the family has started a website with more information on the Wolf holiday.

In the FAQ section, it encourages people to celebrate Woofenoot however they see fit, including with donations to animal shelters, wolf sanctuaries and dog-related charities.

The idea has gone viral all over the world with many people saying they will definitely be celebrating next month - there is even a Facebook event set up you can RSVP to.

At the time of writing, more than 8600 people from all over the world have registered their interest, with another 6100 saying they will attend the event.
