The century-old - and closed - outdoor swimming pool in Victoria Street is on the chopping block for Hamilton City Council, however its execution is still yet to be determined.
Hamilton's Municipal Pools, near the corner of Victoria Street and Anzac Parade was closed in June 2012 because of structuraland safety issues.
Despite efforts from members of the Hamilton public, including lobby group Sink or Swim, to save the pools, Hamilton City Council will be filing an application to demolish the pools in the coming months.
The application will be processed by an independent planning consultant, but as applicants, councils have requested their application be publicly notified, allowing members of the public to make submissions on the proposal.
If submissions are made then a consent hearing will be held by an independent commissioner who will hear and decide on the application to demolish the pool.
Hamilton City Council is looking to construct a new swimming pool, with the help of private partnership, at the proposed Rototuna Town centre in the north east of Hamilton.
