Hamilton's CBD, including Garden Place (pictured) is in for a "big spring clean" as Hamilton Central Business Association prepares to clean up the city ahead of its 150th birthday celebrations later this year.
HCBA is water blasting footpaths and seating, and is offering the chance for shop owners to havetheir store fronts water blasted, old signs removed and fronts repainted to look fresh and tidy.
"We've been having our fair share of issues in the city over psychoactive substances," said HCBA general manager Sandy Turner.
"It's our way of trying to raise the bar and we believe if you're feeling proud of your city you look after it so we want to start looking towards that. We just want it done because it hasn't been done for a long time; the streets are looking a bit grimy and dull."
City Safe daytime patrols will also be back up and running from 11.30am-2.30 pm Monday to Friday, along with daytime cleaning.
